IBNA Limited (IBNA) had its genesis in 1984 with the formation of Insurance Planners Pty Ltd. In 1994 a national organisation, the Insurance Brokers Network Australia Pty Ltd, was created by combining all the former state groups.
From 1 July 1999, IBNA was re-structured into an unlisted public company that is governed by a board of directors. Each member of the company is required to hold a Deed of Licence and, under the Constitution, an optional shareholding in the company. The Deed of Licence ensures consistent operational and ethical standards are maintained while capital raised from the share issues strengthens IBNA’s existing market position and provides a base for continuing development of the company.
As at 30 June 2008, IBNA brokers placed in excess of $800m in gross written premiums across all classes of general insurance business. The premiums generated by our brokers provide IBNA with the buying power to negotiate products and services with insurance and premium funding companies, known as our Business Partners.
